Are there any special considerations when you are buying a home from a builder?

When you’re buying a home from a builder, one of the first things you should consider is to make sure you have the money to purchase that home. If you’re relying on financing to purchase the home from the builder, your deposit that’s made up front is put at risk within a number of days. So make sure that you have your financing in place when you’re buying a home from a builder.

You should also consider the other fees that are customarily paid by a seller. For instance, when you buy the home from a builder, the transfer tax in the state of Florida, which is based on the purchase price of the home, often a seller expense, is a buyer’s expense when you buy from a builder. So you need to make sure you know what your closing costs are going to be and that you have the financing to purchase that home.
